Sometimes, instead of fancy OpenTable lists, you have to trust which restaurants the locals order from time and time again. This Reddit user did an informal survey of where the locals of the valley like to get their favorite Pho, and we compiled a list so you don’t have to (you’re welcome).
“Our favorite place to go for all things Vietnamese! Service is very friendly, fast, and playful with the little ones. We really won’t go anywhere else in town. Enjoy all the unique and plentiful dishes!”
Location: 1702 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85015
“My go-to. It is a laid-back place with good food and quick service. Pho tastes great, too. They also have little plastic bowls to put sauce into, so you can dip the beef for some reason that seems rare.”
Location: 3417 N 7th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85013
“I had a great experience at Pho Number One! The food was delicious, and the service was good despite it being a bit crowded. Overall, it is a great spot for pho enthusiasts like myself.”
Location: 1955 W Baseline Rd #114, Mesa, AZ 85202
“BEST Pho in Arizona, No doubt. Please try the combination Pho so you can enjoy all types of meat in one bowl. Spring rolls with sauce are a perfect choice for an appetizer, and shrimp fried rice is well-cooked, and I felt like each rice and shrimp were dancing inside my mouth. Lunchtime is pretty busy, and you might wait about 20-30 minutes, But it is worth it! I can wait for more than an hour.”
Location: 2844 N 43rd Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009
“Very fresh and good. This food makes me feel good. They are big plates and well made. The servers are quick, and they bring your food fast. Came with the family and had a really good time.”
Location: 4538 N 19th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85015
“First time visiting this restaurant. Quick service and family-owned. The pho broth was flavorful, not too sweet, not too salty, and had a perfectly rich taste! The bowels are a good size and very filling. I would recommend this place to visit if you’re looking for a new place to try.”
Location: 1537 E Apache Blvd, Tempe, AZ 85281
“This is my second time here, and I was so impressed. The service is exceptional; they even offer you water while you wait. I took some Pho and Charbroiled Curry & Lemongrass Chicken Over Rice to go, and the wait was not longer than 5 minutes. Highly recommend this place; so far, they have the best Pho soup in Chandler.”
Location: 1381 N Alma School Rd, Chandler, AZ 85224
“I have been going here with my family for years. The chicken pho, fried dumplings, and Vietnamese coffee are my favorites. There is always lots of flavor; dumplings are fried perfectly. I’ve taken many friends here, and they all love it as well! Welcoming vibe. Service can be slow at times when they are short-staffed or busy, but overall, I love coming here and enjoying their food.”
Location: 5221 S Power Rd #104, Mesa, AZ 85212
“My absolute favorite Pho spot! Family-owned, very affordable, and, honestly speaking, the best Pho I have ever had. The place is not the best looking, but it certainly has the best food. I only buy my Pho here :)”
Location: College Plaza, 1820 W Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85202
“Great-tasting food with a fun atmosphere. Loved the coconut water juice combinations. Local family owned and operated.”
Location: 15689 Hayden Rd #127, Scottsdale, AZ 85260
“A Vietnamese place is authentic if you smell the fish sauce and pho broth once you walk in. This hole-in-the-wall place has amazing food. I ordered the Pork Chop, Bun Bo Hue, and Spring Rolls. The noodles in the Bun Bo Hue are thick rice noodles that are just incredible. Service here is pretty fast and attentive. It will certainly be my spot for a Vietnamese fix.”
Location: 3202 E Greenway Rd Ste. 1289, Phoenix, AZ 85032
“It’s very rare that I give 5 stars for food these days, but Rice Paddy definitely deserves it. We ordered two Pho dishes, a vegetarian and a pork noodle salad. Everything was delicious, fresh, and carefully prepared. We often dine at Vietnamese restaurants, mostly good and affordable, but this joint is so far the best and surpasses them all. Try the brisket pho. For vegetarians, go for the tofu noodle salad.”
Location: 6219 N 7th St, Phoenix, AZ 85014
“We absolutely love this place! (We stop here every time we come into town.) I was all about the Pho Ga until… my boyfriend had me try his beef short ribs Pho. Now that is my new fav! Our other favorite is spicy garlic green beans. We switch it up sometimes with spring rolls, potstickers, or hot wings. This place never disappoints. The owner is very nice.”

Arizona may have seen some relief in median rents from the end of 2023 to 2024, with some cities experiencing drops of up to 10% due to more available housing and the departure of pandemic-era residents. However, despite these decreases, the state remains relatively expensive in terms of housing. Arizona ranks higher in housing affordability than the rest of the nation. According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, Arizona has the 14th highest housing wage in the U.S. This is the average amount an individual must earn to afford a “modest” one-bedroom apartment.
